Rage against the machine

It’s 2022 and our lives are still being dictated by world superpowers. Wars are still being waged based on a global economic system that rewards companies for raping the earth of its resources instead of protecting them. It seems impossible some days to see a way out of this downward spiral of bad news, so how do we. I find myself like most others cursing the system that is slowly killing our earth, but then I get in my car, fill up with petrol and become part of it because we are all chained to the same economic system that we are cursing each day.

So how do we stay positive. At the end of the day we will all die (and you thought this would turn to something positive) But that is just the way it is. What we do from this day to our final one, how we make ourselves and those around us feel. How we impact the earth with our words and actions is all we have control over. In spite of all the shit around us, war, plastic clogging up our rivers and oceans, greed and globalisation. There are still people waking up and choosing to do good, realising that one day they will die and all that matters is the space between.

Our global clickbait media will always focus on the distasterpieces, because that is what sells. But there is still so much good out there. Above all coming home and looking 2 meters around you if you are so blessed to have people in your life that love and care for you. Laughing with them sharing a hug from your kids or your partner. Finding the peace on a quiet night and looking up in the sky, re-remembering that we are floating in a galaxy on a blue and green planet suspended in the milky way. Then waking up and choosing to have an attitude of gratitude and creating positive change, whatever that may be.

Having waves of constant negativity and hate make us feel cut off from eachother, feel isloated and helpless. We are not in control of what some mental president does driven by global economic, or able to stop companies mass producing single use plastics. But we can refuse to buy into these things and rage against the hate and in our own ways connect to the things that make us human, to exist as naturally as we were made to and not buy into so many things that our souls don’t profit from.

A positive story from people and organisations raging against the machine.

Plastic reduction treaty.

The world is set to get a global treaty to tackle plastic pollution.

Nearly 200 countries have agreed to start negotiations on an international agreement to take action on the “plastic crisis”. UN members are tasked with developing an over-arching framework for reducing plastic waste across the world.

There is growing concern that discarded plastic is destroying habitats, harming wildlife and contaminating the food chain.

UN member states have agreed to start international negotiations on drawing up a global plastics treaty that could set rules for production, use and disposal of plastics. The decision was made at a meeting of the UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi.

Dr Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya, environment minister for Rwanda, which has been at the forefront of the proposals, said they were optimistic the negotiations would put in place a framework “to end plastic pollution”.

Conservation charity WWF described the decision as one of the world’s most ambitious environmental actions since the 1989 Montreal Protocol, which phased out ozone-depleting substances.
